Washington, D.C. April 1, 2019 –WEConnect International, along with support from the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), Disability:IN and the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce (USPAACC), announced the 2019 Top 10 Global Champions for Supplier Diversity & Inclusion at its 10th Anniversary Gala. Pharmaceutical company Merck took the top spot alongside the following corporations listed in order of their ranking:
- Kelly Services
- Marriott International
- Johnson & Johnson
- Bristol-Myers Squibb
This inaugural 2019 Top Global Champions for Supplier Diversity & Inclusion ranking is the only one of its kind, made up of the some of the world’s largest corporations that have demonstrated their commitment to global inclusive sourcing from diverse groups including minority, women, LGBT and disabled-owned businesses around the globe.
Scoring was based on a variety of factors including senior leadership support, program scope, supplier development and global spend with diverse suppliers.
“If you are not sourcing inclusively everywhere you do business, you do not have full access to critical innovations and the best total value options that will help you meet and anticipate the needs of your clients,” says WEConnect International CEO & Co-Founder Elizabeth A. Vazquez. “This ranking showcases the acceleration of a truly global movement towards supplier diversity and inclusion. By leveraging trillions of dollars in corporate spend with diverse suppliers around the globe, corporations like Merck and others are actively driving innovation and creating more inclusive economies.”
With 95 percent of consumers living outside of the US, inclusive sourcing helps private industry leaders meet the needs of an increasingly diverse customer base while capitalizing on competitive, innovative local talent in the communities where they already operate — building their brand loyalty and impacting the bottom line.
