In July, WEConnect International launched its Women’s Business Enterprise certification in Japan at a kick-off event in Tokyo with support from its Corporate Members: Intel Corporation, Accenture, and Johnson & Johnson. The event brought together over 70 stakeholders committed to women’s economic progress in Japan to share actionable efforts to engage in inclusive sourcing. On December 5th, 2018 WEConnect International in Japan will host its First Conference to include several multinational and local corporations, high-level government representatives, thought leaders, and Japanese women entrepreneurs from a variety of different sectors.

This event will feature panel discussions and a matchmaking session where women-owned businesses will be able to engage with corporate buyers face-to-face. Expert panelists will also discuss supplier diversity as a long-term business strategy and explain the impact of women’s economic empowerment on communities and the overall growth of Japan.

Speakers will include Elizabeth A. Vazquez, CEO, and Co-Founder of WEConnect International and Frank A. Sanders, Vice President, Technology and Manufacturing Group and Director, Systems Supply Chain and Technology Enabling from the Intel Corporation, amongst others.

“Across the globe, women continue to earn, on average, less than one percent of the money spent on suppliers by large corporations and governments,” says Vazquez. “Our coalition of global partners, government allies, corporate members, and women business owners are integral to bridging that gap.”

WEConnect International is a global non-profit committed to connecting women-owned businesses to market opportunities through our member base of more than 80 multinational corporate members who have committed to sourcing more from women’s business enterprises around the globe.
