On April 1, 2019 WEConnect International will host its 3rd annual Global Gala and Awards Ceremony at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. The gala brings together over 200 Fortune 500 corporate representatives, government officials, thought leaders, and philanthropic and civil society organizations, who champion women's entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
This year, WEConnect International celebrates its 10 Year Anniversary by honoring the corporate members, women-owned businesses, and strategic partners that have helped shape the organization over the last decade.
On January 7th, an inaugural event was hosted in Dhaka, Bangladesh to mark the start of a capacity building initiative “Corporate Connect: Strengthening Market Access for Women-Owned Businesses”- a technical advisory project implemented by the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank Group and The Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh. This inaugural event was targeted towards women business owners of micro, small and medium enterprises in Bangladesh to enhance their supply chain linkages. Deputy Manager, Sustainability of DBL Group, Mr Mashook Mujib Chowdhury and Dr. Nadia Binte Amin from the Women Entrepreneurs Network for Development Association, also joined the program.
WEConnect International is delighted to announce the appointment of two senior level staff members: Emily Coccia as the Vice President of Development and Saritha Venumbaka as the Vice President of Operations. Emily and Saritha will work together, at headquarters in Washington D.C., to head up global efforts to scale the rapidly growing organization, lead its executive management team, and develop the performance-driven culture.
