Smitha Ramouthar is the HR Director, SA and SSA at AstraZeneca. She joined the company as the HR lead in January 2019 when she was responsible for the overall performance of the HR function. Prior to that, she was the HR lead at Boehringer Ingelheim, a global pharmaceuticals company with 50 000 employees around the world. Smitha has also held senior HR management roles at Kapsch Group, Barloworld Logistics and Massmart.
Smitha describes herself as a strategic HR professional whose role is to partner with business, influence and lead human capital planning, change management, organizational consulting & design, diversity and inclusion and engagement initiatives while utilizing business process principles. She has a bachelor’s degree majoring in Geosciences from the University of the Witwatersrand, a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Sciences from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and a postgraduate honors degree in Psychometrics and Organizational Psychology from the University of South Africa.
