Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are becoming relevant to offerings of business entities, particularly SMMEs. This was the novel theme explored during an event held for Women Business Owners (WBOs) and local stakeholders. WEConnect International in South Africa was hosted by the team at the Tshwane Interactive Digital Centre (Tshwane IDC) in Pretoria on 11 October 2016. The event included presentations and was attended by 24 WBOs from Johannesburg, Midrand and Pretoria.

Khanyile Solutions success sa 2016Khanyile Solutions is a WEConnect International certified women’s business enterprise, which specializes in the manufacturing and branding of work wear. At the helm of this company are business partners Belukazi Nkala and Thabisile Mkhwanazi, who bring a strong combination of skills, experience, and a commitment in managing and growing Khanyile Solutions locally and beyond South Africa.

Belukazi was born in the Eastern Cape, attended school in Zimbabwe and returned to Johannesburg where she worked as an analyst in Information Technology (IT) for 12 years. Thabisile was born in Johannesburg and went to school in Kwa Zulu Natal but later returned to Johannesburg, as well, where she worked as a procurement officer for over 14 years. In 2009, they began their company by supplying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). However as they interacted with clients, they received varied requests for more tailor made services. This is when they decided to become manufactures, and Khanyile Solutions was born.
