WEConnect International in Europe opens doors to new supply chains. Led by corporate members, it certifies firms in the United Kingdom and Ireland that are at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by women and connects them with the growing global demand from corporations and the public sector for diverse and innovative suppliers. The organization partners with corporations, associations, governments, women entrepreneurs and their supporters, and is affiliated with a global certification network for women-owned enterprises.

Women-owned businesses urged to capitalise on momentum as WEConnect championed by Government

It is the strongest and most public statement of Government support yet for WEConnect, as it receives full backing in the new Government Enterprise Strategy, launched on March 12th in conjunction with the budget. In a strategy dominated by actions to support women start and grow businesses, WEConnect was highlighted as a key initiative by the Government.

When Amanda Shaw started WiFi Solutions (UK) Limited two years ago, she was loathe to approach large companies. Before long, however, she was talking with the likes of M&S and Tesco. ‘I’m not afraid of approaching anyone, any more... I go straight to the top!’ she says.
