Everyday Office Supplies was established in 2003 and is a privately owned, WEConnect International certified Women’s Business Enterprise, supplying over 50,000 competitively-priced, high-quality office products to businesses of all sizes including Loblaw’s, Tridel, Hakim Optical, Enterprise, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and the Ontario Real Estate Association.

Everyday Office Supplies differentiates itself with what they call “Everyday Service+”, offering personalized service to help businesses run more efficiently. They rise to the challenge and go the extra mile for their customers. Staff have rushed to the airport to deliver last minute supply needs to a client waiting for his flight; searched for a refill for a $1,000 pen; found a customized $10,000 chair for a senior executive; and delivered toner within an hour so a school could print report cards that needed to go out that day.

As an entrepreneur, Owner Kalyn Carter, was looking for a high quality, internationally focused group in which to network, and to connect and share experiences, knowledge and ideas with other women business owners who understand the challenges she faces. She also wanted to engage with and have access to corporations to grow her client base. She decided to seek WEConnect International certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise, which was obtained in 2014.

The WEConnect International certification has provided her business with incredible opportunities. Not only has Kalyn found business opportunities amongst the other women business owners, she has made very good friends with several and they meet regularly to share stories and business challenges. Recently, Everyday Office Supplies was awarded the 2018 Canadian WBE of the Year Award at WEConnect International in Canada’s signature event, Power the Economy Conference.

She has also succeeded in landing a corporate contract with WEConnect International corporate member, Enterprise Holdings. Kalyn met Lee Lewis, Global Supplier Diversity Manager at Enterprise Holdings at WEConnect International’s Power the Economy conference in Toronto in 2017.

During the corporate roundtable matchmaking session, Lee seemed genuinely interested in learning more about Everyday Office Supplies Inc. “This was a genuine situation where timing met opportunity,” said Lee. “We were looking to make a change in the way we procure office supplies, so we were definitely in the market when we sat down to chat with Kalyn.”

Kalyn later followed up with Lee and sent him a capabilities statement. Lee passed along the info to his supply chain department, resulting in a number calls, wherein Kalyn discovered an opportunity in Alberta with Enterprise Holdings. Enterprise found her prices competitive and was impressed with her online ordering system and personalized approach.

Everyday Office Supplies Inc. now supplies the ~75 Alberta Enterprise locations, which has greatly expanded their market reach. “I had been looking for an opportunity to acquire another office supplies company to grow the business,” says Kalyn.

In March 2018 Everyday Office Supplies Inc. made its first acquisition of Calgary-based Digital Office Systems Inc. This will allow them to grow and expand their business offerings and continue to grow the businesses. They hope is to find similar opportunities to grow Everyday Office Supplies soon.
